Organic coconut flour, which is made up of 14% coconut oil and an impressive 58% dietary fiber, is low-carb, gluten-free and hypoallergenic. It’s also a good source of lauric acid, which acts as an antiviral and antifungal, lowers cholesterol, and promotes good skin health.

Brown rice is a good source of manganese, selenium and magnesium. Sprouted unrefined whole grains can have 4x the amount of niacin, 2x the amount of B6 and folate, more protein and fewer starches than unsprouted grains. The American Heart Assn. recommends high fiber whole grains to decrease harmful cholesterol levels.

Amaranth is an excellent source of manganese and calcium, minerals vital to bone health, and it’s a good source of iron, zinc, phosphorus, and magnesium and antioxidants. Even better, a healthy dose of fiber and unsaturated fat make it hearty, satisfying, and good for keeping blood sugar levels in check.

Our Better Than Roasted (BTR) process maximizes the bioavailability of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in our nuts and seeds. It also removes bitterness and concentrates flavor, yielding a sweeter, more easily digestible, and more flavorful nut or seed. Read more about our BTR process HERE.

Tapioca comes from Cassava Root, a dietary staple tuber in South American and Africa.  It is considered a prebiotics starch because it passes through our gastrointestinal tract promoting the growth of beneficial flora which will help increase absorption of important minerals like calcium and magnesium, regulate blood sugar and insulin sensitivity.

Fun Fact:  Frying pans were invented in ancient Mesopotamia over 1,000 years ago. The first use of deep-frying can be traced back to as early as the 1st century CE.

Informational Marketing Newsletter

Here at Blue Mountain Organics we pride ourselves for being a premier provider of certified organic foods and we’re dedicated to producing the best-tasting, and most nutritious foods possible with the healing and nourishing powers of pure, organic, raw and sprouted foods.

Our healthy, organic offerings include numerous sprouted seed and grain products, and with new product endeavors in the works, we plan to launch additional sprouted grain and seed products to gastronomical heights!  We’ll be highlighting some of our wholesome, incredibly nutritious and yes, quite tasty, products.

Grains vs. Seeds

Grains are small edible fruits harvested from grass family crops, clustered on the top of mature plants, like Rice, Barley, Rye and Wheat. Seeds are defined as an embryonic plant, covered with a seed coat that forms once a plant is fertilized.  Some of the foods we think of as grains are actually seeds, (sometimes called Pseudo-grains) like Buckwheat, Amaranth, Wild Rice, Quinoa and Teff; they are also considered super foods because they’re packed with concentrated nutrients like, plant protein, vitamins, micronutrients, flavonoids, phytonutrients, and antioxidants.

All living things have special abilities for protecting themselves to live long enough to reproduce.  Grains and seeds are often eaten by animals and have evolved to protect their ability to sprout and grow even after going through the gut of hungry, munching creatures.  Natural compounds like gluten, lectins, enzyme inhibitors and phytic acid safeguard the outer coating of the seed, grain, bean or nut and its inner nutrients keeping important nutrients for future plant growth locked inside, so it is no surprise that they also prevent us from utilizing the nutrients when we eat them and many of those same protective compounds may be harmful to humans, if ingested in large amounts.

Tout’ n the Sprout ‘n

Sprouting initiates a chemical change that promotes plant growth and unlocks many of the nutrients held inside, promoting the availability of iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, manganese and proteins to name a few.

Traditional cultures, who counted on grains for a large part of their diet, used processes like soaking, sprouting and fermenting to reduce harmful elements and gain better nutrition, fast forward to today when most grains are not prepared in traditional ways and modern conveniences and commercial processing have almost eliminated these practices from our food production.  Science is just starting to take a long look back to the wisdom of older methods, to look at the chemistry and nutrition in the natural make-up of grains and seeds and how this might be related to modern micronutrient deficiencies.

Blue Mountain Organics carefully follows recommended soaking and sprouting processes to maximize the bioavailability of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients in grains, beans, nuts, and seeds, removing bitterness and yielding sweeter, super flavorful, and easy to digest foods. With our dehydrating techniques, freshness is locked into grains and seeds bringing intense flavor and desirable texture. We stone grind our flours at low temperatures to further preserve sensitive vitamins and minerals, producing grain and seed flours bursting with fantastic taste and vitality.  The proof is in the tasting, try some today!
